Haori with Bird of Prey Painting

by Vintage

Sold out
Plain haoris often hide beautiful painted linings - harking back from the Edo period where sumptuary laws were enacted against the growing middle class. Non-warrior castes were not allowed to display their riches through garments, hence beautiful artwork could only be known to the wearer. These haoris are reversible due to the special garment construction.
